Key Events to Charter a Luxury Yacht in Sydney

Sydney New Year’s Eve – The World’s Most Iconic Fireworks Show

When: December 31

Why Charter: Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks are internationally famous — and there is no better way to experience them than aboard a private yacht on the harbour. Skip the crowded foreshore and enjoy unobstructed, front-row views of both the 9pm family fireworks and the midnight spectacular, framed by the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

How to Secure Your Yacht – New Years Eve in Sydney:

Book 6-12 months in advance, as New Year’s Eve is Sydney’s most in-demand charter date.

Australia Day on Sydney Harbour

When: January 26

Why Charter:
Australia Day celebrations on Sydney Harbour include a full day of maritime festivities — tall ship parades, aerial displays, tug and ferry races, and live music events. A luxury yacht provides the best vantage point to enjoy the day in style with private catering, drinks, and uninterrupted harbour views.

How to Secure Your Yacht:

Book at least 3-6 months ahead to secure your preferred yacht and boarding location.
Popular charter options include family-friendly day cruises or corporate entertaining packages.

Vivid Sydney – Festival of Light, Music & Ideas

When: Late May to Mid June

Why Charter
Vivid Sydney transforms the city into a stunning canvas of light projections and installations — best viewed from the water. Chartering a luxury yacht during Vivid allows you to cruise past the illuminated Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and Circular Quay — away from the crowds.

How to Secure Your Yacht:

Book 2-4 months in advance for an evening Vivid cruise.
Evening charters typically run 3-4 hours, timed for sunset and the light installations.

YOTSPACE offers packages with canapés, drinks, and onboard entertainment to elevate your Vivid experience

Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race Start

When: December 26 (Boxing Day)

Why Charter
The start of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is one of the most exciting days on Sydney Harbour. Watching the fleet of maxi yachts cross the start line from the deck of your private yacht puts you in the heart of the action.

How to Secure Your Yacht:

Book 3-6 months in advance, as many yachts are in high demand for Boxing Day charters.
Morning to early afternoon charters follow the race start and offer premium catering and champagne packages.
Ideal for corporate entertaining or groups of sailing enthusiasts.

Sydney International Events, Concerts & Sporting Fixtures

Sydney regularly hosts major international concerts, festivals, and sporting events that draw large crowds to the harbour and foreshore. Popular events to pair with a luxury yacht charter include:

Sydney Harbour Regatta (March)
SailGP Sydney
New Year’s Day parties
Major festivals at Darling Harbour
Corporate events tied to conferences and expos at ICC Sydney

How to Secure Your Yacht:

Enquire with YOTSPACE at least 3-4 months ahead for popular event dates.
Many luxury yacht charters can be combined with onshore VIP event access via private tender services.
Options range from half-day charters to full evening luxury experiences with onboard DJs and live entertainment.

When to Book Your Sydney Luxury Yacht Charter

Sydney is a year-round charter destination, but demand peaks during:

December to January: New Year’s Eve, Australia Day, and summer event season
May to June: Vivid Sydney festival
Spring and Autumn: Ideal for corporate and leisure charters with warm weather and calm conditions

For major events such as New Year’s Eve, Boxing Day, and Australia Day, securing your preferred yacht at least 6-12 months in advance is highly recommended.
