Sri Lanka

November – April

Sri Lanka’s southern coastline combines palm-fringed beaches, historic harbours, sheltered bays and open Indian Ocean cruising. Beginning in Galle, this seven-day yacht itinerary follows the coast through Unawatuna, Weligama, Mirissa and Tangalle, with opportunities for swimming, watersports, marine wildlife encounters and private excursions ashore. The journey balances relaxed cruising with access to some of the island’s best-known coastal destinations before returning to Galle.

Sri Lanka

May – September

Sri Lanka’s east coast creates a noticeably different yacht experience from the south, combining Trincomalee’s immense natural harbour with coral reefs, quieter beaches, shallow bays and increasingly open stretches of coastline farther south. Sri Lanka Tourism specifically describes the east coast as well suited to exploring by boat, including sailing between beaches and snorkelling around Pigeon Island.

This six-day round trip begins and ends in Trincomalee, keeping the journey within the sheltered waters between Koddiyar Bay and Nilaveli. Short daily passages leave more time for whale watching, reef snorkelling at Pigeon Island, the clifftop Koneswaram Temple and quiet beach anchorages, rather than long days at sea.

Sri Lanka

January – January

Sri Lanka’s southern coastline combines historic ports, palm-fringed beaches, fishing communities and warm Indian Ocean waters within a relatively compact cruising region. Galle provides an especially practical starting point because its natural harbour supports pleasure yachts, while destinations farther east such as Unawatuna, Koggala, Mirissa and Tangalle are recognised by Sri Lanka Tourism for beaches and watersports.

This five-day point-to-point itinerary moves steadily east from Galle to Tangalle without retracing the same destinations. Heritage walks, snorkelling, local fishing traditions, marine-wildlife opportunities and relaxed beach time give each day a different character while keeping the journey firmly connected to the coast.
