Tanzania

October – March

Mafia Island offers one of Tanzania’s most marine-focused cruising experiences, with coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds and small islands forming part of a highly diverse coastal ecosystem. This six-day itinerary explores Chole Bay and the islands to the south while combining diving, snorkelling, cultural visits and the possibility of seasonal whale shark encounters. Large sections of the southern island fall within Mafia Island Marine Park, so the route is designed around responsible access and local park regulations.

June – October

Pemba offers a quieter and more remote alternative to Zanzibar, with deep channels, forested coastline, coral reefs and isolated beaches shaping the experience. This five-day itinerary explores the waters surrounding the island at a deliberately slower pace, combining diving and snorkelling with secluded anchorages and visits to less-developed coastal communities. It is a destination suited to guests who value marine exploration and privacy over busy resort areas. Tanzania Tourism includes Pemba among the country’s principal beach and island escapes.

Zanzibar combines white-sand beaches, coral-fringed waters and centuries of Swahili history within a compact cruising area. Beginning near Stone Town, this four-day itinerary moves from the cultural heart of the island towards secluded sandbanks and the clear waters of Zanzibar’s northern coastline. Days balance snorkelling and swimming with opportunities to step ashore for historic streets, spice-filled markets and relaxed beachfront dining.
