Day 1: Broome to Cape Leveque
EXPEDITION EMBARKATION | SUNSET CRUISING | ONBOARD DINNER
Board your vessel in Broome and settle into your cabin before departure. Meet the crew over a welcome drink, then enjoy dinner as the coastline slips into the evening light. Cruise north along the Dampier Peninsula overnight towards Cape Leveque, positioning the vessel for the island passages ahead. Cape Leveque marks the passage area; a shore landing is not assumed.
Day 2: Buccaneer Archipelago
ISLAND CRUISING | TENDER EXPLORING | GUIDED FISHING
Spend the day travelling between rocky islands and headlands, watching the scenery change as the vessel follows channels selected around the tides. Join the crew for a tender excursion where conditions allow, observing shoreline formations and seabirds from water level. Between outings, relax on deck and enjoy the scale of the archipelago before dinner onboard.
Day 3: Dugong Bay & Horizontal Falls
TIDAL FALLS VIEWING | GEOLOGY DISCOVERY | TENDER EXPLORING
Explore Dugong Bay’s sheltered waterways with the crew, taking in the sandstone slopes and secluded shoreline. Continue towards the Horizontal Falls area for a visit timed around tidal conditions. Observe how the narrow coastal gaps influence the movement of water, with viewing arrangements determined by the operator’s permissions and conditions on the day.
Return onboard for a relaxed evening. Any passage through the falls must be confirmed separately and should not be assumed as part of the excursion.
Day 4: Montgomery Reef & Red Cone Creek
TIDAL REEF EXPLORING | WILDLIFE WATCHING | CREEK DISCOVERY
Time your Montgomery Reef visit around the falling tide, when water drains from the reef surface into surrounding channels. Explore by tender, observing the cascades and watching for marine life without disturbing the reef.
Continue towards Red Cone Creek for an excursion into a different coastal setting. Where tides and access permit, follow the creek towards its rocky upper reaches and seasonal waterfall scenery. Any freshwater pool visit depends on a specific assessment by the crew; swimming in tidal waterways is not included.
Day 5: Camden Harbour
COASTAL CRUISING | SETTLEMENT HISTORY | TENDER EXPLORING
Cruise past Augustus Island and Kuri Bay before exploring Camden Harbour’s settlement history. A guided visit to Sheep Island provides insight into the unsuccessful nineteenth-century settlement. Later, join a tender outing or relax onboard as the expedition continues along the coast.
Day 6: Prince Regent River & King Cascade
RIVER CRUISING | WATERFALL VIEWING | WILDLIFE WATCHING
Enter the Prince Regent River system and travel through a landscape of sandstone slopes and winding waterways. Depending on navigability, explore by vessel or tender before approaching King Cascade to view water descending over its stepped rock formations.
Pause for photographs and enjoy the contrast between the falls and surrounding vegetation. Return onboard after the excursion, with any additional shore activity selected by the crew. King Cascade is a viewing destination; swimming at its base should not form part of the programme.
Day 7: Careening Bay & Roe River
MARITIME HISTORY | RIVER EXPLORING | CULTURAL DISCOVERY
Visit Careening Bay to learn about the repairs made to HMC Mermaid during Phillip Parker King’s coastal survey. Where landing access allows, follow your guide to the historic boab inscription and observe the site without touching or disturbing it.
Continue towards Roe River for a tender excursion through its waterways. Watch the banks for crocodiles and birdlife, then return onboard for dinner as the vessel prepares for the next stage of the voyage.
Day 8: Hunter River & York Sound
MANGROVE EXPLORING | WILDLIFE WATCHING | COASTAL GEOLOGY
Explore the Hunter River region by tender, moving between mangrove-lined banks beneath sandstone cliffs. Look for crocodiles and birds while your guide explains the relationships between the river, tides and surrounding habitats.
Continue towards York Sound, where the landscape opens into wider coastal waters. Enjoy an afternoon of scenic cruising, with closer exploration of shoreline features where conditions permit. Spend the evening onboard at a location selected for suitable shelter.
Day 9: Bigge Island & Montague Sound
ABORIGINAL ROCK ART | ISLAND EXPLORING | SCENIC CRUISING
Go ashore at an approved Bigge Island landing for a guided introduction to its Aboriginal rock art. Follow the guides’ instructions around culturally significant places before returning onboard. Continue through Montague Sound, enjoying the weathered sandstone landscape and island views from the deck.
Day 10: Swift Bay
CULTURAL DISCOVERY | TENDER EXPLORING | FAREWELL DINNER
Spend your final full day exploring Swift Bay’s sandstone shores and rock-art sites with the guides. Tender excursions provide another perspective on the coastline, with fishing opportunities where permitted. Return onboard for a farewell dinner and your final night at anchor. yotspace.com
Day 11: Broome
FAREWELL BREAKFAST | SCENIC HELICOPTER FLIGHT | AERIAL COASTAL VIEWS
Enjoy breakfast onboard and, if the departure schedule allows, a final guided shore excursion. Say farewell to the crew before departing by helicopter for a scenic flight over Mitchell Falls and onwards to Mitchell Plateau.
Board your connecting light aircraft for the flight to Broome, completing the journey with an aerial view of the country explored by sea. Flight routing and timing remain subject to weather and operating conditions.
