SOLOMON ISLANDS: 6 Day Remote Island Escape
South Pacific
Solomon Islands
6 Day Remote Island Escape
The Western Province reveals another side of the Solomon Islands, where volcanic peaks, enormous lagoon systems, rainforest-covered islands and exceptional marine biodiversity create an immersive expedition by sea. Around Gizo, guests can explore reefs and wartime wrecks, while farther east Roviana, Tetepare and Marovo introduce increasingly remote landscapes shaped by coral gardens, mangroves and dense tropical forest.
This six-day journey travels progressively east from Gizo without repeating a destination. Njari provides a marine-focused opening, Kolombangara shifts the emphasis to rainforest and biodiversity, and Munda adds WWII heritage and Roviana Lagoon. The final two days at Tetepare and Uepi move into some of the Western Province’s most impressive conservation and diving environments.

- When | May–October
- Duration | 6 Days - 5 Nights
- Departs | Gizo
- Concludes | Uepi Island
Day 1: Gizo
WESTERN PROVINCE | REEF GATEWAY | WELCOME ABOARD
Board the yacht around Gizo and begin with a gentle cruise through the surrounding islands. The Gizo area is one of the Solomon Islands’ established centres for wreck diving, snorkelling and reef exploration, with numerous WWII aircraft and shipwreck sites scattered through the surrounding waters.
Spend the first afternoon swimming or taking an introductory snorkel before enjoying sunset onboard with views toward the mountainous islands of the Western Province.
Day 2: Njari Island
GRAND CENTRAL STATION | MARINE LIFE | DEEP-WATER REEFS
HIGHLIGHT: GRAND CENTRAL STATION | MARINE LIFE | DEEP-WATER REEFS
Cruise toward Njari Island and spend the day immersed in the Western Province’s underwater scenery. Grand Central Station, off Njari’s northwestern tip, sits where ocean currents converge and is known for larger marine species including trevally and sharks as well as abundant reef life.
Qualified divers can arrange a guided descent while snorkellers explore shallower areas selected by the crew. Spend the afternoon relaxing aboard or exploring nearby reefs by tender before continuing east.
Day 3: Kolombangara Island
VOLCANIC LANDSCAPE | RAINFOREST | BIODIVERSITY
Exchange coral reefs for rainforest as the yacht reaches Kolombangara. The island is an eroded volcanic cone with unusually high biodiversity for the New Georgia group and offers everything from easy rainforest walks and river swimming to more demanding cloud-forest hikes.
Go ashore with a local conservation guide for a shorter rainforest experience, then return to the yacht for swimming and dinner with the island’s mountainous interior rising above the coast.
Day 4: Munda & Roviana Lagoon
ROVIANA LAGOON | WWII WRECKS | REEF DIVING
Continue toward Munda and Roviana Lagoon, a vast waterway extending for more than 50 kilometres east from Munda and enclosed by barrier reefs and islands. The outer reefs support hard-coral walls, slopes and abundant fish life, making this one of the country’s recognised diving destinations.
Spend the day combining reef exploration with Munda’s extensive WWII history. Guests can dive or snorkel, explore the lagoon by tender, or arrange a shore excursion before returning aboard for the evening.
Day 5: Tetepare Island
CONSERVATION | PRISTINE RAINFOREST | WILDLIFE
Cruise toward Tetepare Island for a dramatic shift into wilderness. Tourism Solomons describes Tetepare as the largest uninhabited tropical island in the Southern Hemisphere, with intact rainforest, coral-fringed shores and a locally managed conservation programme.
With local arrangements in place, spend the day walking through rainforest, snorkelling, observing wildlife or learning about the island’s community-led conservation work. Tetepare’s isolation makes it one of the most expedition-like days of the charter.
Day 6: Uepi Island
MAROVO LAGOON | CORAL DROP-OFFS | FINAL DIVE
Complete the journey at Uepi Island on the edge of Marovo Lagoon. Uepi is a narrow rainforest-covered barrier-reef island positioned between the sheltered lagoon and the deep ocean waters of “The Slot,” with coral gardens and dramatic drop-offs close to shore.
Spend the final morning snorkelling or diving before enjoying lunch aboard and disembarkation. After saying farewell to your crew, take a pre-arranged boat transfer to Seghe airstrip for your onward flight, bringing your Solomon Islands yacht charter to a close. Transfers and flight connections should be arranged in advance, with schedules subject to weather conditions and availability.

Solomon Islands: 6 Day Remote Island Escape Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to charter here?
+May through October is generally the most convenient period because it corresponds with the drier season and lower average rainfall and humidity.
Where do charters depart from?
+This itinerary begins at Gizo and ends around Uepi Island and Marovo Lagoon, creating a one-way journey through the Western Province rather than retracing the same destinations.
What can be experienced in this region?
+Guests can experience Gizo’s diving, Njari’s marine life, Kolombangara’s rainforest, Roviana Lagoon, Tetepare’s conservation wilderness and Uepi’s coral gardens and deep reef walls.
Who is this destination suited for?
