5 Day Culture & Island Escape
Efate offers an easy introduction to yacht cruising in Vanuatu, combining Port Vila with the smaller islands and sheltered waters along its western and northern coastline. Lelepa, Artok and Moso bring together coral reefs, local communities, cultural heritage and quiet island scenery within relatively compact cruising distances.
This five-day itinerary stays close to Efate, prioritising short passages and generous time for snorkelling, kayaking, cultural visits and relaxed afternoons onboard. It finishes in Havannah Harbour rather than retracing the route to Port Vila, giving the charter a progressive feel while keeping logistics straightforward.

Day 1: Port Vila
ISLAND CAPITAL | HARBOUR CRUISING | WELCOME ABOARD
Board the yacht in Port Vila and settle into the relaxed pace of Vanuatu. The capital sits around a natural harbour on Efate and provides the country’s principal international gateway, making it a practical place for provisioning and embarkation.
Spend the afternoon cruising beyond the harbour, with time for swimming or paddleboarding before enjoying the first dinner onboard.
Day 2: Artok Island
UNESCO HERITAGE | SACRED HISTORY | TENDER EXPLORATION
Continue toward Artok, also known as Hat Island, which forms part of Chief Roi Mata’s Domain together with sites on Efate and Lelepa. The island contains the burial site associated with Chief Roi Mata and holds significant cultural importance.
Visits should be made only through authorised cultural arrangements, while the yacht remains positioned according to local access rules and the captain’s judgement. The remainder of the day can be spent exploring surrounding waters by tender or enjoying a quiet afternoon aboard.
Day 3: Lelepa Island
CORAL REEFS | FELS CAVE | LOCAL CULTURE
Cruise north toward Lelepa Island, a small, locally owned island off Efate where rainforest, protected swimming waters and cultural heritage make an excellent shore stop. Visitors can explore the coastline by kayak or snorkel before joining a locally guided experience ashore.
A visit to Fels Cave can introduce guests to the stories surrounding Chief Roi Mata and the island’s history. Cultural sites should only be visited through authorised local arrangements and with appropriate community guidance.
Day 4: Moso Island
MARINE LIFE | SNORKELLING | ISLAND RETREAT
Cruise toward Moso Island on Efate’s northwestern side. Moso sits across Havannah Harbour and combines quiet beaches, reefs and a secluded island atmosphere, with established resorts and marine-focused experiences already operating there.
Spend the day snorkelling, kayaking or exploring by tender before returning to the yacht for sunset drinks and dinner in the sheltered waters nearby.
Day 5: Havannah Harbour
SHELTERED WATERS | FINAL SWIM | DISEMBARKATION
Finish in Havannah Harbour, an established sailing area on North Efate where protected waters, reefs and nearby islands create excellent conditions for a final morning on the water. Sailing and snorkelling experiences already operate throughout the harbour.
Enjoy breakfast on deck and one final swim before disembarking at an appropriate jetty, with onward road transfers toward Port Vila or the international airport.
