Lifelong friends Jackson Howson and Ryan O’Dea share a keen sense of adventure, a passion for the Kimberley and years of marine industry experience between them. Best mates since they were five, their energetic and unbreakable friendship forms the basis of the incredibly strong organisational culture that will see Eclipse Expeditions provide an unforgettable experience for guests across all demographics. Jackson’s father Craig foundered the world class Kimberley cruise operator, True North and so Jackson has been exploring Broome and the greater Kimberley by boat since a young age. Thanks to this, his passion for showing off the region is not only as a result of his own experience here, it’s in his genetics. He lives and breathes the Kimberley and his extensive exploration here sparked his passion for showing off the unique area to intrepid travellers from around the world. He’s even had a secret waterfall named after him. Jackson’s vibrant energy make him fantastic company to have on board and his deep knowledge of the area means he will expertly guide you to far off corners of this incredible region.
As for Ryan, he knows the marine industry like the back of his hand having commenced work on vessels whilst still completing his high school education. Much of his career has been spent expertly navigating the waters of Broome and the Kimberley on vessels such as the True North and so he too, has a deep connection to the area. Ryan’s knowledge of the marine industry and his dedication to excelling in the field form the foundation for Eclipse’s dedication to maintaining a superior standard on board our vessel. Like Jackson, he has spent many years aboard various vessels exploring the West Australian coastline so he too, has a deep connection to the region and is eager to show it to all who come aboard.
