What to Expect on a Kimberley Yacht Charter Each Day
Generally speaking, guests will alight from their cabins on their own time whilst the boat’s crew are up very early preparing a sumptuous breakfast, which is normally served either in the air-conditioned saloon of the yacht or outside on the upper deck so guests can take in the exotic scenery that surrounds.
If the yacht’s schedule has a pre-arranged excursion for the day, guests will be given a briefing the night before to ensure they are well prepared for the next day’s adventure. Most excursions are land-based, so you will disembark the yacht on the boat’s tender vessel; you must be fit enough to manoeuvre in and out of a boat to begin your Kimberley expedition adventure. Guests are usually off the yacht for a few hours, returning to the boat for lunch. Depending on the anchorage, the afternoon may follow the same format, with guests returning to the boat to relax and freshen up before pre-dinner drinks are served and tales are shared from the day.
On other days, the yacht may be steaming to a new location, so there may be more time available for just relaxing and watching the spectacular scenery go by. Your crew may use this time to give informative talks on the flora, fauna, and history of the Kimberley. You can expect on-land excursions that include rock art sites, swimming holes, and hikes to waterfalls, depending on your specific yacht charter selection.
Are You Fit Enough for a Yacht Charter or Book-by-the-Cabin Cruises in the Kimberley?
The tenders on a superyacht are quite stable, and the yacht’s crew are always on hand to assist passengers in and out of the tenders. However, you still need to be aware of your own capabilities and those of your fellow travellers. On our luxury catamaran cruises, the tenders are normally larger aluminium-style vessels, and passengers may need to be just that little bit more nimble.
As for the guided tours such as the walks/hikes, it is more about steadiness on your feet than endurance. The ground can be quite pebbly/rocky. However, at the minimum, you must be able to use stairs, unaided except for one walking stick, in case of emergency.
